Nori sheets are made from a sea vegetable which is pressed into sheets, and traditionally used for making sushi.
Raw Nori is 50% protein by weight and full of vitamins and minerals. Ounce for ounce, it contains nearly 10 times the Potassium of a raw banana and nearly five times the vitamin C of an equivalent serving of raw oranges. Raw Nori sheets also contain more Vitamin A than broccoli or apricots as well as numerous essential trace minerals.
Nori, along with other seaweeds, has been a dietary staple of Asian and Pacific Island cultures for thousands of years. This historic relationship has lead to a greater understanding of the value and benefit of seaweed. The extraction of Nori’s individual components and compounds are used in numerous products. For the most complete nutritional benefit however, raw sheets of dried Nori are relatively unmatched.
Raw Living raw Nori is the highest quality raw Nori that we have found available on the market. It is certified organic at source and regularly tested for radiation and pesticides.

This Nori is grown in a single location just below the Sea of Japan in a 4,000 acre growing site that is classified as “Certified Organic Growing Waters.” To achieve this International Standard, the harvest area waters are tested monthly, and must test 100% clean continuously for minimum of 3 years before receiving organic status. The seaweed is harvested and brought to the production facility. After arrival the Nori is inspected and separated. The Nori Sheets are made from only the highest grade (upper 15% of the total harvest). After the product is low temperature dried it is cut to size and packaged.
NOTE: the Clearspring nori isn't raw, it's hot air dried at 80 degrees C and then roasted for about 7 seconds at 230 degrees. Real Raw Nori is dark purple, toasted or steamed Nori is green. There is a clear nutritive and taste difference. Remember, Real Raw Nori is always dark purple. Light green nori sheets have been toasted, so are never raw.

Use Nori to make raw veggie "mock" sushi or veggie rolls - or invent your own filling for this low-fat, nutrient-dense food wrap. It can as well be crumbled to season salads or other delights. These Raw Nori sheets are a raw food store cupboard staple. Great for a quick snack, and a great way to use up leftovers. Simply assemble your chosen ingredients in a strip across the middle of the sheet, roll up, and seal by wetting the outside edge and pressing it down firmly. Eat as it is, like a baguette, or cut into bite-sized pieces and serve as a hors d'oeuvre. Nori sheets are a great travel food, as they pack easily into any case or bag. They also make a perfect packed lunch.
Crumbled Nori adds a salty crunch to salads and soups while thin slices of Nori are also great as an edible garnish for any meal.
