Shiitake: The Beloved Woodland Mushroom
Offer due to surplus stock
Our passion for mushrooms runs deep — we’ve been working with them for over a decade and value their extraordinary properties. Mushrooms are a staple in our kitchen; we use them in everything from chocolate to sweet and savoury dishes, as well as in nourishing teas.
Our personal research and experience have guided us to what we believe are the highest quality mushroom extracts available — potent, effective, and offered at an affordable price. This 8:1 Shiitake extract is rich in the essential active compounds that make mushrooms so valued in traditional practices.
Shiitake is perhaps the most well-known of the specialist mushrooms, cherished both in the kitchen and in traditional wellness practices. Known as “Dongu” in China, this distinctive mushroom is native to East Asia and grows wild in forested woodlands.
With its deep, earthy aroma and naturally umami-rich flavour, Shiitake has long been used in East Asian cuisines for its rich taste and satisfying texture. Its nutritional profile includes a variety of B vitamins, essential amino acids, and naturally occurring polysaccharides, making it a favourite among mushroom lovers.
Our Shiitake extract powder offers all the goodness of this remarkable mushroom in a concentrated, convenient form — perfect for daily use in teas, broths, smoothies or functional recipes.
Key Features:
Nutritional Benefits:
A natural source of B vitamins, including B2, B3, B5, and B6, which support energy metabolism and reduce tiredness and fatigue
Contains essential amino acids, contributing to balanced protein intake in a plant-based diet
Rich in polysaccharides, including beta-glucans, which are naturally occurring compounds found in mushrooms
Contains important minerals such as copper, selenium, and zinc
*The main bio actives in medicinal mushrooms are water soluble, not alcohol soluble. Immune modulation is a core property of hot water extracted mushrooms, and not so much of alcohol-extracts. A hot water extraction process is all that's needed to give us the required high levels of beneficial properties. Alcohol or dual extraction is only useful to get higher triterpene content, specifically in Reishi & Chaga.
