Our sunflower seeds are from Europe (typically Italy or Hungary). They are guaranteed raw. We have used sunflower seeds personally, and in our Sunseeds mix, for years, and we have often found it difficult to find truly raw seeds - even from sources that have promised they are not heat-treated
Sunflower seeds, or more accurately, sunflower kernels, are a source of vitamins & minerals, phytosterols, and fibre. They contain anti-oxidants thanks to the presence of vitamins E and C, and antioxidants deal with the free radicals that can lead to the development of disease. They are high in linoleic acid (an essential fatty acid), some amino acids eg tryptophan, Vitamin B (especially thiomine, pantothenic acid, and folate) They have very high phytosterol content - phytosterols help reduce cholesterol, and the fibre is great for the digestive system.
Sunflower seeds are also high in unsaturated fats, the good fats that may protect the heart.
Country of origin may vary but we always source from Europe.

Sunflower seeds are a staple item in any raw vegan pantry. Soak for 1-2 hrs before using and see the little tails start to sprout so quickly. Use as a base for sweet or savoury dips, mayonnaises and creams. A good alternative to cashews as they are much more affordable, and much more digestible, but produce a similar creamy result.
