Description

These Spirulina tablets are simply our Spirulina powder, pressed. Nothing added.

Spirulina is possibly the most well-known super food, and for good reason. As an excellent source of protein, we recommend all vegetarians and vegans look at taking Spirulina regularly to supplement their protein requirements. Spirulina has been farmed for human consumption for decades now, and there is a wealth of research available on its properties, although we are not allowed to tell you about any of it.

Spirulina is one of Earth’s oldest life forms, an algae. It has been enjoyed for centuries. The Japanese government classifies it as a functional food in its own right.

Spirulina is the name given to Arthrospira Platensis and Arthrospira Maxima, strains of spiral-shaped algae that flourish in subtropical and tropical waters. It is referred to as a blue-green algae, thanks to the presence of chlorophyll and phycocyanin. Chlorophyll is what makes plants green. Phycocyanin is also believed to have antioxidant and blood-optimisation properties.

Spirulina has amazing nutritional characteristics. Its main ingredient is protein, which typically forms around 60-70% of the product. This is complete protein and highly digestible, up to five times easier for the body to process than meat or soy protein.

Spirulina also contains all eight of the essential amino acids – those that our body can’t manufacture – making it an excellent protein source for vegetarians. This is reinforced by the presence of important vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, B-1, B-2, and B-6, iron, calcium and antioxidants. Spirulina is also rich in other important chemicals such as phytonutrients, enzymes and trace elements.

Further Information

Raw Living Spirulina is ecologically grown outdoors on a tropical island off mainland China, in a pristine environment with tropical sunshine, pure air and fresh mountain spring water. It is grown in a controlled environment and not wild in lakes as this sometimes poses a risk in terms of toxicity and contamination. The Spirulina is produced without pesticides. The Spirulina is rigorously tested by independent laboratories for potency and purity. It is free of toxic residues and has no chemical additives.

Spirulina is the most popular form of blue-green algae farmed for human consumption, and has been eaten by people all over the world for many decades. It is one of the best vegetarian sources of protein (about 60%), and it contains all the essential amino acids. It is a source of all the important vitamins and minerals, particularly iron and the B vitamins, anti-oxidants and chlorophyll.

A 10-acre farm can support only two people by using it for cattle, 60 people by growing soyabeans on it, or 1200 people with spirulina!
