Goldenberries, are also known as Physalis, Incan berries, Chinese gooseberries, and Cape gooseberries.
They are an exotic fruit orginally from South America, and are currently attracting great interest. The fruits, which are coated in a paper calyx, are characterized by abundance of vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B complex, minerals, tocopherols, carotenoids, and bioflavonoids. Golden berries are a good source of pectin.
Dried goldenberries are prized for their pleasant sweet taste and smell. Add them to cakes, ice cream and other desserts. They can also be consumed directly as a snack.
100% natural
From the Andes region of Peru
The berries are selected, washed, disinfected, air dried, selected, tested for heavy metals, and then packed and sealed.
A high quality dried Physalis must have an attractive orange colour; a darkened product is considered to have a lower quality. In order to reach a high quality dried product, the raw material’s quality is essential. The fresh physalis fruit should be sufficiently large and of a sufficiently sweet taste to meet the requirements. The dried physalis will have a texture similar to that of raisins.
Goldenberries are high in fibre with 19g fibre per 100g. They contain vitamin C, potassium and phosphorus and are naturally low in sodium.
